New Insights into the Adrenocortical Accumulation of Lipofuscin
نویسنده
چکیده
Rat adrenal cortex comprises three zones of steroidogenic tissues: glomerulosa (ZG), fasciculata (ZF) and reticularis (ZR). The ZG synthesizes mineralocorticoid (aldosterone) in response to low Na+ or high K+ in circulation. In parallel, the ZF and ZR synthesize glucocorticoid (corticosterone) responding to stimulation by the pituitary hormone ACTH. Prolonged ACTHstimulation of rats induces transformation of ZG-cells to ZF-like cellsto maximize the production of corticosterone [1].

Can social instability, food deprivation and food inequality accelerate neuronal aging?
Based on both animal and human studies, inequality in food intake and social instability has adverse effects on the health of individuals and the community. However, it is not known whether social instability, food deprivation and food inequality affect neuronal death and premature aging in young animals. To address this question, the effects of these adverse situations, histopathological chang...
متن کاملEffect of stress due to food deprivation, social inequality and instability on brain
Introduction: Several reports show a relationship between health equity, and health status and longevity of individuals. In this study, effects of food deprivation, inequality and social instability were investigated on the formation of lipofuscin pigment in Balb/C mice by histopathological and biochemical methods. Methods: Thirty-six male mice were divided into 6 groups, then different kind...
متن کاملNew insights into the prevention and treatment strategies for hypertrophic scars and keloids
Hypertrophic scars and keloids are fibrosis abnormalities associated with the accumulation of collagen and extra cellular matrix components. These scars are caused by abnormal wound healing, which may occur after skin injuries caused by surgery, trauma, burns, etc. and may have a large impact on the patients’ quality of life. Hypertrophic scars and colloids in addition to aesthetic problems can...

Background and Objective: Based on both laboratory animal and human society studies, inequality in food intake and social instability has adverse effects on individuals and community health. However, it is not known whether social instability, food deprivation and food inequality affect neuronal death and premature aging in young animals. To address this question, the effect of food d...
متن کاملAntioxidant and Free Radical Scavenging Potential of Yakuchinone B Derivatives in Reduction of Lipofuscin Formation Using H2O2-Treated Neuroblastoma Cells
Background: The progressive accumulation of misfolded and aggregated proteins in neurons is an accepted mechanism in aging. Overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), referred to as oxidative stress, is currently believed to play a pivotal role in this process. Lipofuscin as a histological index of aging results from cross-links between oxidized proteins and lipids. Therefore, to attenuat...
